Stepping into your first fitness kickboxing session can feel exhilarating—and a little nerve-wracking. At TTF Kick Punch Lift, our non-contact, cardio-driven classes are designed to welcome absolute beginners and seasoned athletes alike. Read on to discover exactly how your first class flows, what gear you’ll need, and how to make the most of every punch and kick.

Before You Arrive

Our fitness kickboxing classes blend dynamic punching and kicking drills with strength and conditioning—no sparring, no contact. To choose the session that best fits your schedule, check our class timetable and reserve your spot online.

You’ll want to wear moisture-wicking athletic wear and supportive training shoes. If you don’t yet own hand wraps or gloves, we offer complimentary wraps and glove rentals at reception—just ask when you check in.

Checking In and Gym Tour

When you arrive at either our Torrensville (233A Henley Beach Rd, Torrensville SA 5031) or Somerton Park (230 Brighton Rd, Somerton Park SA 5044) location, simply check in at the desk with your membership card or guest pass.

Both gyms are open 24/7, so you can train whenever it suits you—early morning, late at night, or anywhere in between. Feel free to grab water or a towel before class.

A friendly trainer will then give you a quick tour of the facility, pointing out bag zones, stretching areas, lockers, and our recovery lounge. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions about how our fitness-only kickboxing system works.

Gear and Attire Essentials

Opt for fitted, sweat-proof clothing to stay comfortable during high-intensity drills. Loose or baggy items can get in the way of pads or bag work.

If you have your own gloves and wraps, bring them along; if not, our wraps and gloves rental costs are minimal. We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session.

During the Class

Your session will run for approximately 45–60 minutes, led by a certified trainer who guides you through every phase. Expect a balanced mix of technique practice, cardio intervals, and strength exercises.

Trainers demonstrate each combination on pads and then coach you one-on-one to refine your form and keep you safe on the bags. Modifications are always offered to match your fitness level.

Warm-Up and Technique Drills

The class begins with a 5–10-minute dynamic warm-up—think leg swings, hip circles, and light shadow boxing—to increase blood flow and mobility.

Next, you’ll learn the foundational punches (jab, cross, hook) and kicks (front kick, roundhouse), practicing first in the air, then on focus pads to nail down proper alignment and power generation.

Cardio and Conditioning Rounds

After technique work, you’ll move into high-intensity rounds on the heavy bags: 2–3 minutes of continuous combinations followed by 30–45 seconds of active rest (body-weight exercises like squats or mountain climbers).

This interval structure keeps your heart rate elevated for optimal fat burn and cardiovascular conditioning, making it a full-body blast that torches calories and builds endurance.

After the Session

To wrap up, your trainer leads a brief cooldown with static stretches for the hips, hamstrings, shoulders, and core—each held for 20–30 seconds to aid recovery and flexibility.

Post-class, feel free to unwind in our recovery area or ask about booking a soothing sports massage to ease muscle tension.

Cooldown and Stretch

Proper stretching helps flush out metabolic waste and reduces muscle soreness. Your trainer will guide you through targeted stretches to ensure you leave feeling limber and refreshed.
